The brief
Brief
Top 100 Golf Courses was running on a dated and none-optimized Next.js codebase and with a Sanity setup that was not optimal for the editorial team.
The job: steady the build and rebuild the editing experience so the team could manage rankings, reviews and content properly.
How
Approach
- Stabilised the Next.js codebase and rebuilt the Sanity editorial experience around how the team actually works
- Wired Supabase auth and user reviews directly into the Sanity interface, meaning that all community data can be managed in one place
- Brought display advertising in-house, handled through Sanity instead of an external ad network
- Added gamification to lift reader engagement
- Built several AI-features with Vercel’s ai/sdk that is due to launch for external and internal use in the near future.
Result
Outcome
PageSpeed performance climbed from the low teens to 70+. The editorial team gained a platform where they can edit and manage reviews, rankings, advertising and gamification, all in-house. Serving over a million golfers a year.
